CENSORSHIP AND ART FUNDING

All people should have the chance to express themselves and their opinions whether it is through art, writing, music, or any medium. The idea that someone can prevent an artist's work from being shown, or cut off their funding because of their personal dislike of some pieces is one that many don't appreciate.

Many people like giving money to support the arts, but for some it depends on the art that is being funded. This extends to donations from the private sector as well as government grants. Funding for the arts seems to be reduced every year. This site will show examples of government objections to art funding, based on individual reactions to the art itself.

There are also pages that have information on artists that have had their work censored. You may look at their work and decide for yourself if it is offensive or immoral.

Other links will show you how you can support the arts in your local community and nationally.

Should there be government support of the arts? Should support for the arts come from the public? Who gets to decide what art is, and what is funded? These are difficult questions that everyone has a different answer to. This site will try to offer some information to assist you in answering them.
